I picked up this and a few other brews from Rogue the other day… I’ve noticed this one for some time now, probably due to the bright graphics on the bottle or maybe cause it sounded like a nice refreshing brew nonetheless I decided that I Would finally give it a shot.

The Honey ale pours a cloudy lemonade looking brew that almost looks like a heffe but is a little bit lighter and is topped of with a 2 finger head with decent retention.

not sure if it was my alegies acting up that day but the beer really didnt have much to it as far as aroma goes. I detected a very mellow citric aroma after letting it sit for a minute. but not much else.

When I first tried this Rogue ale I tasted a mild citric flavor and some hints of orange as well. Reminds me a bit of a heffeweizen with the lemon and orange wedges. theres a little sweetness to this beer and thats it. A very mellow beer with nothing that really stands out about it, an average beer that would really only appeal to me for repurchase if I was preparing for on a hot day by the pool.

The Hazelnut Brown Nectar from Rogue brewery out of Oregon is a 6.2% ABV brown ale. but this is Rogue so this isn’t your normal Brown Ale…

As the title suggest this Beer is brewed with hazelnuts which was inspired by home brewer Chris Studach. This is a truly amazing brown Ale, So amazing in fact that I would say the Hazelnut Brown Nectar is in my Top 5 favorite beers.

The Brown Nectar has a nice warm honey color with a nice clean 2 finger somewhat fluffy head that sticks around. you get a nice woody nutty smell with just hints of sweetness up on smelling this brown ale which is very inviting. A nice aromatic ale indeed.

Now for the taste!

Refreashing nutty taste warm hazelnut almost Bread-like flavor to it. A very flavorful beer, the Addition of Hazelnuts was a great touch it definitely completes this beer and compliments the ale in every way. its what makes this beer stand out so much… its NOT just another brown ale. The Taste comes in two waves. Again the two waves of taste only enhance the experience as the differences compliment each other so well to deliver a solid great taste.

Very High drinkability. 2 or 3 and your set.

We took a quick trip back to Stone Brewery for some more delicious brews. We are hoping to make this a monthly trip ;o) While we were there, we got the chance to enjoy a delicious collaborative beer that Stone Brewery, Maui Brewing and Ken Schmidt came together to create. This is a dark, chocolate, nutty, coconut porter. There are 3 different bottles and each has a story from the different breweries so make sure you check them all out if you get a chance.

The beer has 100% Kona Coffee and Macadamia nut. The beer was very dark and poured with excellent dark malty head. It has a very strong smell with higher alcohol than most porters. The beer had intense flavor with a strong coffee/espresso like taste topped off with a rich sweet nutty finish. It was better than we expected. If you like dark beers, coconut, chocolate, etc this is an excellent choice!
